The TwitterPeek is quite possibly the most pointless device man has ever created. It’s a small handheld device that does Twitter — only Twitter. It looks like a smart phone and is about the same size and weight — but all it does is Twitter.

I have no idea how well the TwitterPeek works, but the real question is why do I care? What difference does it make if it works good or not? Why should I carry around a second device for doing something my Blackberry already does — and does quite well?

Oh, I also forgot to mention the TwitterPeek costs $200.

The good folks at Mashable have written a great article breaking down the positives and negatives of Seesmic Desktop and TweetDeck.

If you’re trying to decide which one to use, this article should help clear that up.

I started using Seesmic Desktop yesterday and I could not be happier. Seesmic may well become the dominant Twitter client in the months to come if the early version of Desktop is any indication.

It’s that dreaded fateful time of year again…tax time. Fortunately, you’re not alone figuring out our absurd tax code.

There are plenty of software programs out there to lend a helping hand, and CNET has reviewed some of them.

If you’re in the market for a new notebook computer, I cannot say enough good things about my HP HDX 16. It’s the best computer I’ve ever owned without a doubt. It’s blazing fast, and has one of the best screens available on a notebook.

It’s the only pc notebook that I’m aware of that has the same kind of LED backlit display as a Macbook. Like the Macbook, the HP HDX series of notebooks have screens that are a solid pane of glass.

It has an Intel Centrino 2 core 2 duo processor running at 2.8-GHz with 4 GB of Ram expandable to 8. You can order several different hard drive options, mine has a 325 GB HD.

One of the most important things about a notebook is the keyboard. I tried out about 30 different laptops before I chose the HP. It has the best keyboard I’ve ever used. The trackpad is also excellent, because it’s glossy like the entire computer which means your finger doesn’t get hung up on the pad when using it.

The HDX 16 has four USB ports, FireWire and eSATA ports, HDMI and VGA output, Ethernet and modem jacks, an infrared receiver, a Kensington lock slot, expansion port, and a microphone and dual headphone ports. Also, an ExpressCard/34/54 slot, a fingerprint reader on the right end of the palm rest, and a 5-in-1 memory card reader line the front.

In addition to Blu-ray playback, the HDX 16’s brilliant display is well suited for gaming, as is its GPU. It has an Nvidia GeForce 9600M Gt video card that can handle anything I’ve thrown at it thus far. I regularly play Call of Duty 4 and other graphic intensive games and they all run smooth as silk.

My HP runs Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. When you have more than 3 GB of Ram you must use a 64-bit operating system to use all that ram. 32-bit vista will only use 3 GB and will ignore anything after that. With Vista 64 you can take advantage of the 4 GB of RAM and even expand all the way up to 8 GB. I also find 64-bit Vista to be a bit more stable than the 32-bit version.

Some other features worth mentioning are the on-board Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capability and built-in webcam.

Beyond all the great features, the final icing on the cake is the looks. You won’t find a better looking notebook anywhere. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to see any pictures of this computer that really do it justice. You just can’t appreciate what a shiny, glossy, piece of eye candy it actually is until you see it.

I should also mention that they offer an 18” widescreen HDX model in addition to the 16” widescreen model I chose.
