According to Mashable, Google is working on a research project aimed at replacing the HTTP protocol that the web is built on and replacing it with something faster. The new protocol is allegedly called SPDY as in “SPeeDY”. Google supposedly even has a prototype web server and chrome client with built-in SPDY that they’ve been testing. ...
